Nothing Is Worthwhile

Nothing is worthwhile, you know,
Unless you work to make it so
Easy gold has easy wings,
But all the solid steady things
They seem to come a slower way
They seem to grow day by day
Love of home and stalwart might
Are not molded overnight
Honesty and rugged toil
Are not found in shallow soil
For the roots strike deep and find
Happiness and peace of mind
So when you have a building task
Choose the things that will last
Lay foundations strong and fair
And put the best that’s in you there
For nothing is worthwhile unless
Thus you build for (eternal) happiness
